Description:
A damaged railway engineer’s private coach. It is probably as a result of an attack on the railway during the early days of the “Boxer” uprising. Although not positive, it likely that this damage is related to the attack on a group of I.R.N.C. engineers and plate layers at Lukuochiao (Lugoujiao) on 23rd. October 1898. During this incident District Engineer A.G. Cox and Engineer (Captain) W. B.Norregard were attacked in their engineer’s car. Cox was seriously injured and another Chinese railway labourer killed. Norregard repelled the attackers eventually by using his revolver. (A3/150)
