A group of Japanese soldiers are standing on the platform of Ying Kow (Ying Kou) station, which was the terminus of the former (Russian) Chinese Eastern Railway branch line to the port of “Newchwang”. Following the capture of this line by the Japanese, this became part of the South Manchuria Railway. This picture was probably taken in about August 1904 by District Engineer A. G Cox who wrote to Kinder describing the Japanese manoeuvres around the railway in Ying Kow. (A3/7)
