Tientsin station during the 1900 'Boxer' siege and bombardment of the foreign settlement. The station was defended mainly by Russian troops, seen in the picture behind makeshift barricades across the railway tracks. The wooden passenger footbridge across the tracks slopes upwards to the left. (A2/45)
