A First Class or Private carriage (No. 80) with a Chinese official standing on the rear platform. The car is one constructed at Tongshan for the Emperor (see photo in ‘Engineering’ May 1898) The figure is almost certainly Hu Chu Fen (aka Hu Yu Fen胡燏棻 Hu Jufen. See P27/4). (A6/121)
