This picture shows a damaged and derailed railway locomotive. It is was one of those pulling trains attacked by Boxers during the first attempted 'Relief of Peking' expedition from Tientsin (10 - 14 June,1900) led by Admiral Sir Edward Seymour and which ended in failure with heavy casualties.
