This picture is captioned as the “Chief Assistant Engineer’s Office” but the European man seated at his desk is not named. It is possibly Alex G. Cox, Deputy Chief Engineer, (from July 1914) who later moved to the Canton-Hankow Railway as Engineer-in-Chief, before retiring in 1921.
