This is a map of the Pearl River. On the left upper corner of the map there is Canton with a representation of a city. There are several fortresses and guardhouses depicted on the map. For navigational reference there are depicted some towers on the map. There are two towers named 'Talon tour' and 'Tour talon', the first right under the city of Canton -also with the Portuguese note 'Grande Pagode'- is the Chigang Pagoda -赤岗塔- or Red Stone Hill Pagoda; the second one is still unidentified. There is one on the 'Wampou' island that is Pazhou Pagoda -琶洲塔- built in 1600 with nine main sections and 17 sub sections with 59 m high. The one named 'Tour du lion' is the Lotus Pagoda -莲花塔- or Wenchang Pagoda built in 1612, a 8-corner brick-build architecture, 50 m high, with nine floors outside and 11 layers inside. There is a tower right next to the Pazhou Pagoda and an unnamed one at the left of the spade symbol.

Vertical scale line in leagues on the right upper corner of the map.
There is a small spade symbol indicating north.
Relief is pictorially and bathymetric relief is shown by soundings.

All the text is in French except for a little note next to the tower right under Canton that is in Portuguese.
