This map is by Vincenzo Maria Coronelli one of the most influential Italian mapmakers, known especially for his globes and atlases. His book 'Isolario' is considered to be one of the most decorative atlases of 17th century. This sheet is part of a composite, 24 Globe Gores, 2 Polar Calottes, Terrestrial Globe which the first edition came out in 1688. This particular part depicts East China with the Islands of Hainan and Taiwan, it can also be seen the Korean Peninsula, part of the Philippines, Japan and Russia.
