This is a manuscript nautical chart of part of the South China Sea, between the coast of China and west coast of Taiwan with the islands of Penghu county. On the Chinese coast can be seen quite a number of small islands and most of the bays are named with soundings given, making it quite detailed. A fort is also marked on the coast line in what seems to be Xiang'An. On the coast of Taiwan -still named Formose on the chart- the soundings are given in more detail, specially in between it and the island of Penghu county. The nomenclature also seems more abundant compared to the Chinese coastline.

There is a 4-point compass rose on the map with a fleur-de-lis indicating north and a cross on the east point. Another two fleur-de-lis indicate north. Rhumb lines for the principal winds in simple fillet, half-winds in dashed-dotted lines and quarter-winds in doted lines.
