Note:
This chart of the East China Sea provides with the coast line of China, the island of Taiwan, west part of Japan and Korea, although represented as a small island. Even though this chart seems to have been made for navigational aid very few place names are given on the inshore areas and the soundings are also scarce, with most incidence in the Taiwan Strait. Only one route is marked on the chart and is that of the Ship 'La Comtesse de Ponchartrain' in 1775 between Taiwan and Okinawa.
