This is a manuscript chart of Macao and its surroundings extending from Sangchuan (Sancian) on the west to the Lamma Islands (Ilha do leme) on the east. The map probably follows the route the route of the First French Embassy to China since the date of 1698 is marked. Xiangshan Island is named 'Ilha de Anção', a Portuguese transliteration of the Cantonese pronunciation of Xiangshan. The Macao Peninsula is named “Ville de Macao” [Macao City] with two fortress marked, which according to their location can only be Fortaleza de São Tiago da Barra and Fortaleza de Nossa Senhora da Guia. Taipa appears as 'Alsippas' a very uncommon and rather unknown name and Coloane as 'Gorge Ribro', the for the Portuguese name Jorge Ribeiro, probably an unknown sailor. The nomenclature present in it is very peculiar and unique but most is clearly taken from Portuguese sources.
