This is a hydrographic chart of the South China Sea very simplified and with focus on navigation aid for the inland of all the land masses are blank. It depicts the northeastern part of the China Sea, with the Pearl River delta, part of the coast of southern China, the Hainan Island, the coast of Vietnam and part of the coast of Cambodia. On the south border there is the northern part of the island of Borneo and east can be seen part of the Philippines, and Taiwan -still named Formose- up north on the right upper corner. The Paracel Islands, and other islets and reefs are also included with some soundings scattered trough the map. The upper right corner of the map has the toponyms in red and was clearly retouched later, maybe for updating of the information or simply because the original was lost or deteriorated.
