Note:
This two large size charts by Anville seem to be a printed and translated version of manuscript maps by Dutch cartographer Joan Blaeu (1596-1673). Taking Blaeu as his source would explain the Dutch toponyms as well as the Portuguese and Spanish ones since they were common on Blaeu's maps for they, in turn, were his sources. The whole of the map extends from the northeast coast of Vietnam, south China coast with the Hainan Island and part of north Philippines and west coast of Taiwan. The toponyms are mostly on inshore areas with blank interior as was characteristic of nautical charts.
