This is a fairly detailed map of China, and parts of the adjoining territories of Tonquin, Pegu, Tartary, Mongolia, and Korea, as well as the islands of Taiwan (Isle de Tay-wan ou Formose) and Hainan (Haynan). The note inside a scroll work cartouche on the left bottom corner of the map states that the most important villages are in normal lettering and the least important in italic. And that in each name the author suppressed the administrative units of Fu and Zhou that usually follow the place names.
